“When Black women do well in our community, everybody does well in our community.”

LISA M. PEYTON

The Black Women’s Wellness Center is a safe gathering place of healing, hope, power, and partnership.

Driven by a powerful vision to create a physical space to cultivate and inspire mind-body-spirit wellness for Black women in Dane County and to house the work of the Foundation, Founding CEO Lisa M. Peyton, board members, and supporters gathered on May 22, 2019 in an empty office space on Madison’s west side to announce plans to open Dane County’s first ever Black women’s wellness center.

Over the summer of 2019, the Foundation led a crowd-funding campaign, raising over $100,000 from individual and corporate donors to launch the site. The effort gained national attention, including CEO Lisa M. Peyton’s recognition as a GoFundMe Hero, and a chance to tell the Foundation’s story to an international audience.

The center officially opened on January 4, 2020 offering fitness and wellness classes to women with incredible response, and on February 1, 2020, hosted its community grand opening to a standing room only crowd of supporters and community members.

Located in the middle of an area most impacted by Black infant mortality and health disparities, our Black Women's Wellness Center tackles health issues in Dane County.
The Black Women’s Wellness Center serves both as the administrative office of the Foundation, and our health and wellness programming headquarters for the women and community we serve. We currently offer our fitness and wellness programming virtually. For class schedules, click here or email info@ffbww.org for more information.
