I was born and raised in Madison, WI and graduated from UW in 2019 with a degree in film. I am the grant writer for Centro Hispano, the largest nonprofit serving the immigrant community in Dane County. A business goal of mine is to create the first all encompassing online resource for African Curly hair. It will contain common braid and twist patterns, tips, kid friendly interactive curl learning history of hair, the significance of braiding, and more. Eventually, the recourse will have contact information for braiders in your area, something Black woman still struggle with. Braider contacts will include hair photos, reviews, and prices where you are able to book with braiders directly and safely through the site. Long term goal is to partner with a lab to conduct curl studies. Users will be able to send in one cut of a curl to have it tested at a lab to get detailed information pattern, and products your hair likes, weakness, and what products to stay away from.
