Antoria Robbins (Tori), wears many hats with her favorite hat being a mother of two beautiful children. She received both her Bachelor and Master of Social work degrees from the University of Madison-Wisconsin. Her studies were primarily focused on children and the family with special emphasis on child development, family dynamics and child welfare. She has since been blessed to work in various roles including restorative justice, doulaing, and outpatient therapy. In addition, Antoria founded her business, The Unpack Project in 2021 which is a healing project she launched that prioritizes the utilization of humanity centered approaches to healing and wellness and helping individuals and families “unpack” barriers to access their full selves. The founding of the Unpack Project was inspired by Black Women and Black children. Antoria noticed that while she navigated different social service roles, many interventions were less than proactive at empowering and transforming the lives of individuals and their families. This left many of the most vulnerable communities stuck in cycles of never-ending racial disparities, discouragement, and survival mode.
When Antoria became a birth doula, she recognized that she could make an impact on this cycle long before children enter the earth side of this life, by starting in pregnancy, and sometimes even before conception. Since becoming a doula, Antoria has dedicated herself to making an impact in the fight for reproductive justice through the work she does with birthing persons. In particular, she feels strongly about supporting pregnant women with perinatal mental health disorders while simultaneously addressing racial disparities in maternal and infant health amongst Black women and babies. By keeping the value of relationships at the center, Antoria partners with all birthing persons so they feel empowered to have the pregnancy, birth and postpartum experiences they deserve.
In her free time, Antoria loves being involved with her church and community, reading, gardening, and spending time with her babies.
