My name is Lyric Eveans. I've lived in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin since birth and am a rising senior at Sun Prairie East High School. My mom’s side has been in the Madison area since the late 1950s, so we have deep roots here in the area. My dad’s family originated in the Delta region of Mississippi and he grew up with very little. He encountered many challenges during his childhood that made him stronger and very analytical.Mental illness is something that has affected my family directly and impacted me greatly. As a result, I am interested in pursuing a major in psychology. I want to help people deal with their life challenges in a productive way. I am also troubled by the injustices of this world, in particular against Black people. With the recent overturning of Roe v. Wade, our freedom as women is being further compromised.
I hope to gain tools to help myself deal with challenges that are out of my control (like the pandemic) and those around me to strengthen our collective village. I look forward to learning more and receiving wisdom from the FFBWW team. I am somewhat shy but eager to learn more and stretch myself throughout our time together. I am thankful for this opportunity!
